Arkansas Electric Cooperative has a mission to promote growth and prosperity in our communities. Our economic development arm utilizes the resources of the cooperative to drive economic growth through attracting investment and job creation, either by helping existing businesses to grow or by attracting new ones.

May is an excellent time to take a step back and recognize the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas’ efforts and the efforts of the community overall. By working collaboratively with local partners we are creating opportunities for businesses and residents.

It’s National Economic Development Week: May 9th - 15th

We shine a light on economic development activities in May to coincide with National Economic Development Week (EDW) - May 9th to 15th. The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) created EDW in 2016 to help increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.

Learn About Economic Development

EDW is a chance to recognize economic developers, the local leaders and organizations who work tirelessly to recruit investors, develop businesses, create jobs, enhance the tax base and ultimately improve the quality of life of their communities. Creating this awareness is important because many people aren’t aware of economic development or what Arkansas Electric Cooperative Economic Development does. For example, did you know we are focused on creating jobs, attracting investment to the community, addressing workforce needs, and improving quality of life? Though varied, each of these focuses contributes to having a well rounded and growing economy.

Our initiatives include:

Promoting sites that are available for development. Our website, for example, has featured real estate listings. We welcome property owners to contact us with their listings. Once on our site, we can provide information to site selectors and developers.

Leveraging technology to showcase what Arkansas has to offer. For example, we have aerial videos of top sites like the Wynne Technology Park and communities like Helena. Each helps to demonstrate what our region is like and the benefits of doing business here. Click to watch Arkansas site and economic development videos.

Providing demographic data. Site selectors and executives need accurate demographic data as part of their decision making process. This information (at the state and regional level) is provided on our website and updated regularly.

Assisting existing and new businesses through funding, training, and technical support. There are many ways our cooperative helps the local business community. From matching businesses with available loan and grant programs to coordinating workforce training programs, our team is here to help. Click here to learn more.

Arkansas Electric Cooperative is Here to Help

As a cooperative, we are member-focused. Our objective is to strengthen our communities and help our members, not to make a profit. That ideology makes us a trusted resource and partner. As a one-stop-shop for economic development we are active, involved and always ready to help.
