The Greenbrier Companies Inc., an international supplier of railcars and marine barges, announced Wednesday that it is investing approximately $16 million in its Marmaduke facility to support future growth.

As part of the expansion, the company plans to create at least 35 new jobs within one year, adding to the 850 that currently work at the facility.

The project qualified for a $300,000 Community Development Block Grant plus two incentives through the Arkansas Economic Development Commission: Tax Back, which provides sales tax refunds on building materials, taxable machinery and equipment associated with the project; and Advantage Arkansas, which provides a state income tax credit of 1 percent of total payroll.
